Like many of you have most likely done, I’ve seen Avatar (in 3D of course). I also watched the movie “Surrogates” this fall. Both of these movies were focused on the ability to move your conscience mind into another vessel. It’s puzzling to me why so many games rely on clones versus avatars.
The Concept

So, I’ve established that this MMO will be a PVP based game. However, I understand that for a PVP game to succeed, it needs a strong PVE element. Otherwise, it might as well be a standard FPS or combat flight simulator. With that all in mind the first question that needs to be answered is, where does the game take place? If I was to answer “a middle earth like area”, you should shoot me square in the forehead. Everyone and their brother has gone that route and killed it. I thought long and hard about a post apocalyptic game but, I felt I’d be too limited in what I wanted to do. I kept getting pulled into the space combat realm but, I didn’t want an Eve clone. Unfortunately… my first idea was well received, yes, I said unfortunately…
Where to Start: Part 2

I had been playing Star Wars Galaxies for a little over a year and I was getting tired of fighting stupid NPCs every day. Not enough players wanted to PVP and there wasn’t any encouragement for players to do so. SWG was never meant to be a PVP game though. I needed to find a game that satisfied my desire for game complexity and player versus player combat. Thankfully, a friend turned me onto a game called Eve Online.

Microsoft Allegiance
So, here we go. I’ve started this blog in order to capture my thoughts on what would make the best Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) game [for me]. Why did I highlight the [for me] part? Well this is the internet and everyone who comes here is going to have an opinion on how stupid my ideas are. So, let me start out by acknowledging the fact that some of my ideas may indeed be stupid, but they’re mine and this is my site!
